Quality of Service for Multicasting in Content Addressable Networks

چکیده
Multicasting is an efficient mechanism for one to many data dissemination. Unfortunately, IP Multicasting is not widely available to end-users today, but Application Layer Multicast (ALM), such as Content Addressable Network, helps to overcome this limitation. Our OM-QoS framework offers Quality of Service support for ALMs. We evaluated OM-QoS applied to CAN and show that we can guarantee that all multicast paths support certain QoS requirements.

Multicasting Streaming Media to Mobile Users
Content distribution in general, and multicasting in particular, over a wired network to static hosts can be realized by placing proxies and gateways at several parts of the network. However, if the end hosts are mobile over heterogeneous wireless access networks, one needs to consider many operational issues such as network detection, handoff, join and leave latency, and desired level of quali...
متن کاملHow to Evaluate the Quality of Service of Satellite based Content Delivery Networks
A content delivery network (CDN) circumvents the congested Internet by pushing important content to large caches at the network edges. Content, produced at single points of origin, is sent to multiple points at the network edges, constituting point-to-multipoint (multicast) connections. For international wide area networks, such a scheme is most effectively implemented by using the intrinsic mu...
متن کاملKey Exchange for Service Discovery in Secure Content Addressable Sensor Networks
Secure Content Addressable Network (SCAN) is an architecture for service discovery in service centric sensor networks that enables dynamic service composition. This paper proposes two new security mechanisms for SCAN: Single Path Key Exchange (SPX) and Multi Path Key Exchange (MPX). Both security mechanisms allow two arbitrary nodes of SCAN to exchange a symmetric key for secure communication. ...
متن کاملMulticast Routing for Ad Hoc Networks with a Multiclass Scheme for Quality of Service
As multimediaand group-oriented computing becomes increasingly popular for the users of wireless mobile networks, the importance of features like quality of service (QoS) and multicasting support grows. Ad hoc networks can provide users with the mobility they demand, if efficient QoS multicasting strategies are developed. The ad hoc QoS multicasting (AQM) protocol achieves multicasting efficien...
متن کاملA Theoretical Framework for Analyzing Satellite-based Web Multicasting Services
In this paper we study Web multicasting, a service offered by satellite operators to Internet Service Providers around the world. This service employs satellite connections for disseminating periodically Web content to regional and “institutional” WWW caches. We propose a theoretical framework for Web multicasting and formalize the notions of Utility and QoS perceived by customers of Web multic...
